Hi,

The problem:

Disco 1 indicator light arrows on dashboard not working, trailer light flashes on its own. Checked all the obvious things, and have replaced the flasher relay with a genuine part - the correct one for the vehicle in question.

All lights work with new flasher relay however, using any of the switches/brakes, switching the ignition on results in a "click" from the relay and the indicator arrows light up "click" and go out again.

Disco is fitted with a tow bar and I have had the new part exchanged incase it was faulty and have tested the new flasher relay on an equivalent Disco with the same result. I have also tried the defective flasher unit on the other Disco and again, only the trailer light flashes.

Any ideas ?

I'm thinking there's a short somewhere ?

The problem with the indicators started six months ago and has continually got worse until the arrows stopped working altogether and the trailer light took over !

Cheers,

Jim

Hi,

Yes everything works its just this fault caused by the new relay.

I think the new relay is ok, I reckon its thrown up another problem somewhere.

I had wondered if the towpack electrics were causing a problem ?

Sounds more like a live to earth short on your trailer socket wiring loom to me, or someone tapped off a wrong feed modifying socket wiring harness.
Try removing the live-out (to flashers) from the relay and see if you are still getting the same clicks, this should narrow down your search a *little*. Most likely culprit, would seem to me, to be relay earth wire - try re-routing fresh wire direct to known good earth to test also.

When you sort it, have a look at ya keyboard too, enter button is sticking i think.

Unless you type with a stutter.
