Hi All,
I have a freelander 2 HSE 59 reg .
The passenger side indicators work intermittently. Had a diagnostic done and was told its the bcm, signal going in but not coming out. So I Bought a second hand bcm and had the software transferred. Plugged it in and they worked but the next day it went back to the same problem. When it stops working it flashes fast on the dashboard as if a bulb has gone. Checked all the bulbs, all ok.
When the hazard lights are on they still don't work on that side.
Is it possible that the software has developed problem? And its transferred it over to the new bcm? Or is there anything else that can cause the bcm to go wrong or any ideas on what else it could be.

Thanks for replying, I'll double check that but I did check to see if I had a live feed coming into the headlamp unit and had nothing.
It's not just one indicator it's the complete passenger side front to back not working.
 
If the second hand BCM worked for one day, there is certainty a false contact somewhere.
Continuity check from the BCM to the indicator plug can perhaps spot the problem.
 
The CJB (body module) almost never goes wrong, so I suggest that diagnosis was incorrect.
It's more likely to be a bad connection with one of the bulbs, or a bad earth to one of the bulbs. It's also possible its 's a wiring fault between the CJB and indicators on the affected side.
The software that controls core items like indicators is held in a file that can't be moved from one module to another. Only vehicle specific files are moved, nothing else.
 
I don't know much about the F2.

What I do know is that the BCM get blamed for every possible electrical fault, and probably a few things like door handles falling off.

There's been lots of people spent silly money with garages getting them replaced.

However, I can't recall 1 problem being fixed by changing the BCM.

They actually appear to be the most reliable thing LR has ever built. I should think though, they didn't build it.

You're quite right GG, and they're made by Ford, well for Ford anyway.
