Just swapped out my indicator switch, the hi/low beam notch had worn away and it slipped into Hi when indicating (bad idea when people think your flashing them out) even when I closed my door, so, I pulled the fuses (incase a bus went by and it slid into flash position etc... running battery down), also the self cancellor had stopped working, not that its a big deal but hey, it was needing done.

I got the part I needed, and mounted it, all the switches then bolted on to the frame fine, except the washer control, it would appear they have moved the holes slightly and now the pivot point for the lever is in the wrong place. So I needed to take a drill in and cut out some metal from the right of the pivot point hole to let the bolt holes line up and the pivot point come through the hole.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem, and also to watch out if anyone else does need to do this, I would advise checking that the washer will mount into the new indicator switch frame before mounting and drill out as required before mounting (I have metal filings all over my floor now).

For those of you not familar with the indicator; on the Defenders up till 1991 anyway, the indicator switch also has the frame which makes up all the control fittings behind the wheel, this is because it needs a frame which will house the turning bit for the self cancellor.
