Hi All,
Ive got a 2003 Range Rover. The last few months i keep getting different warning/information messages that seem to be 'red herrings' !
  • HDC inactive
  • Check Numplate light
  • Check Rear Light
  • TRANS FAILSAFE PROG
I have no problems with my numplate or rear light when these messages appear - but the TRANS FAILSAFE PROG is the most problematic as i think it locks the RR in 3rd gear (??). I have to keep restarting engine then it clears and drives absolutely fine. Sometimes TRANS FAILSAFE PROG will also appear if i put the transmission in park or reverse. Sometimes it doesnt come up with the message at all !!??

Last year the alternator went and it wiped out the battery - auto electrician fixed new alternator and managed to reinstate the battery somehow but im wondering if this has caused a problem for the eng mgt system in some way ???? Put a new battery on last week but the problems are still there.

Does the eng mgt system need resetting somehow ?

Its driving me mad !
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks ,
Steve

Its definatly a Battery/Alternator problem/Amperage problem....on the P38 with this type of problem it will throw a "Gearbox MAX 35MPH Fault" ...

as yours is a L322 I would assume it would do something similar.

Get the Amperage checked ..(NOT the battery voltage)

Could also be a "BAD EARTH" somewhere on the vehicle.
