I never got above about 21mpg on my 300 auto. Good luck! Thanks for the replies everyone. I can assure you my driving style is not the problem here. Since originally calculating the mpg I have ensured I have driven steady and not too fast to try and improve on 21mpg but all to no avail. I spoke to Allisport today and they suggested it might be a faulty lift pump or fuel pump. I will carry out the mods I have planned and look at the mpg figures to see if anything has improved. My Disco is a 300 TDi with an auto box and a 2" lift. I would expect this to decrease my mpg but not by that much. I'll let you know how I get on.
I think the autobox is the answer there.

I wonder how much difference that viscous fan makes. Even thoughit's suposed to decouple, it still turns. Recently found mine wasn't engaging at all, so replaced the viscous unit just in case (I go abroad a lot and it gets hot over there) and the motor is now definitely slower to warm up.Mine's an auto Tdi 300 and I'm getting well over 30mpg all day long. On a run nearer to 40 - but I don't go above about 60mph. De-EGR'd, viscous fan off and well maintained, new filters every 6 months.

Hi,
1 Question though, What about these Hiclones?
do they actually work, im thinking about getting some? along with K&N filter, and giving her a full service, removing EGR too
