Hi, I've had two instances where I try to start my 90, when I turn the key all the normal dash lights come on but the engine wont start, no clunk, no sound, just silence - my local garage said the engine immobiliser had kicked in even though I had not set the alarm, his solution was to hit the off switch on the alarm remote the next time it happens or for him to fit an override button on the dash.
Is this a common problem as I find it weird that the immobilser can turn itself on?

1) Thatcham class 2 immobilsers must be self arming within 30 seconds of the ignition being switched off.

2) All vehicles 1996 onwards must have self arming immobilisers.

3) yes it's normal;):D

When did you last change the fob battery? Change it for a new one and carry a spare battery in the motor.

Thanks for the info about self arming Ratty, but I've had my landy for 10 years and its not done this before so I'm doubtfull that's my problem - The key fob battery has'nt been changed for a couple of years so I will do that and keep my fingers crossed Shifty - thanks guy's for taking the trouble to post a reply, I appreciate it!

what year/engine is your landy?

Mine does that. The alarm also goes off if you get near the defender without putting the key in the ignition and turning it.
