Hi
Does anyone know if there is a way to check if my Discovery 1 300 tdi 1999 is fitted with a spider for the immobiliser, I don't fancy taking the dash to pieces if there isn't one fitted. I need to bypass the immobiliser as am having problems with intermittent car not starting (nothing when I turn the key) red car warning light lit up and hazards flashing continuously when operating key fob. Seems to settle if I insert key in ignition and use key fob to lock then unlock car. Any ideas would be helpful.
Many thanks.

Remove the radio/headunit and with a mirror and a torch you will see the spider if u look down behind the dash.
Placing the the fob close to the ignition switch or pressing the fobs unlock button will remobilise the engine and extinguish the 'car immobiliser' warning symbol. The symbol should only show if after unlocking, and the fob isn't close to the ignition switch, that's automatic remobilising indication on the vehicles alarm isn't set. Info is in the owners handbook.

Does you alarm function with both hazards and sound, hazards on their own then u do have a problem somewhere, Inserting the key into the switch does nothing, or it didn't when your disco left the factory.

Also is your engine cranking but not starting or not cranking? No crank = iffy spider usually.
