i need to find out what wire on the ignition is a crank live so I can wire it to my starter motor as had problems with my dds pump and decided to get rid of wiring on it also need to know what wire is permanent live to wire my fuel pump to it any info will be great I have a discovery 1 300tdi 1999 manual, I should of done this by now however had a few problems in life that required my attention more than fixing my beloved disco

Any wire under the dash that is BROWN is permanent live, you could just use a volt meter to test the switch wires? I have an old h4 headlight connector & bulb for circuit testing.

Buy a multimeter? Cheap as chips and are invaluable for tasks like this.
I don't know wire colours etc having never owned a disco but someone might.

White/Red to the starter relay.

+1 for multimeter but I also like to use the resistance of a bulb, I've had poor connectivity and it read 12v on the meter but as soon as I clipped the lamp in it shorted out and showed the bad wire.

I find its the little tricks you learn along the way that are invaluable!
