Hi

Can anyone help on the wiring from my ignition coil.

First of all I have a freebie coil that says "12V Ballast" and "09-220". I am sure that 09-220 are electronic ignition coils. I just wondered if the ballast bit was just the rating as my 1992 3.9 EFI LPG doesn't have the resistor thingy under the coil.

Secondly, the wiring. on the negative side I have Brown, black/white and a single white coming out. These don't correspond with the wiring diagrams. Is the white/black for the tach? What about the white? what is the brown?

On the Positive I have a white. (ignition on)

Any help would be appreciated guys.

So would Neg B/w do the revs to the ecu and white from the amp?

Positive white is ignition on?

hmm.

All I have on neg is one white

on positive I have Brown, B/W, and white.

My torch has dimmed and cannae see nowt tonight anyway.

LPG is single point

Well on my 14cux I had at the coil

A positive feed from the main loom, and also a positive to the ignition amp.

On the negative side I had negative from the amp, negative to the ecu (provides timing pulse for ecu) and also a suppressor that was bolted to the bodywork.

Suppressor is optional as is ecu timing wire if you were on carbs etc.

Ahh! Thanks. I'm fuel injection. This explains things somewhat. So then, I should maybe have a capacitor somewhere I think. I still have no tacho/rev counter, but I think I'm getting closer.

IIRC the tacho signal comes from the alternator, have a careful check of the terminals on the back of the alternator, I had one terminal fall off once! Anyway a new set of brushes had that sorted for mere pennies. HTH

Yep, I'll need to see in the daylight, it must be there. I can't find another slate/white wire. grrrr! Anyway St V8 was kind enough to send me the actual 1992 leccy setup which I had been looking for ages. 1992 vehicles can be fishy.

Thanks all. I had to rig up some wire and connectors as the previous owner has messed things up a bit. I'm all go now. I have tacho and coil is tickety-boo!
