Morning all,

My 1974 series 111 2.25 petrol will not start

Batteries pretty new and working fine, lights are strong and blowers working, so not that.

When I turn key there is a click and sometimes a wizz/whearl, but usually just a click.
Wondering if its the Ignition Coil? Hoping so as they're cheap. Or starter motor?

Any help very much appreciated.

Get someone to try and start it while you give the starter solenoid a "tap" with something. It could be sticking, but it could be ****ed.

The coil gives you spark not physical turning over of the engine, so it's not that. You can jump the solenoid with a screwdriver or if like me you are scared of sparks! Buy a little draper starter remote switch. Should show if your ignition is at fault. Try smacking the starter with a broom handle or something wooden to see if that helps. Your sure it's not in gear or engine seized ? That would stop it turning over ;)

It is certainly not the ignition coil .
What could create you this issue is that the starter may be shot or that your electrical leads / wirings are disconnected..

Check if your starter motor works (disconnect wirings from the starter motor, and remember where was what..... then + pole from battery on +pole from starter motor; -pole from battery to-pole from starter.....let the nuts on the bolts to not damage the thread)

as already said, electrical connections or starter.
give the starter a wollop with the cranking handle. might just be stuck brushes, specially if you've been playing in mud.
