So tired of all the problems with my Blue 1999 Rangie 4.6 HSE.
I asked my financial-controller if I could have a new car after these 12 years. She said yes, but on condition that the Blue beast is sold and doesn't sit on my driveway as a WIP.
So, I bought a 2000 Rangie Vogue. Now I know that sounds daft, but....it only has 12,700 on the clock and is in 1st class condition and all original.
So, if there is anyone on here that would like to buy the old Blue one at a realistic price before it goes on the Bay of E ....... now's your chance. It has an MOT till November, 4 relatively new tyres, a new fusebox a repaired reset BeCM and ECU (thanks RickThePick) and the LPG system is also working (on and off).
For a handy person and not a cripple like me, it might be ideal.

Anyway, here's some pictures of the soon to arrive new motor.
Wish me luck!

Never really gave the P38 a second glance but to see one now looking as clean and factory fresh as that one is nearly enough to make me want one!!
I hope it works out well for you (even if it doesn't, it sure makes a gorgeous driveway ornament!!)
What's the story with it? I'm guessing it's been pampered on a posh estate or something??

The new one looks great!

Okay, I'm curious: what does the old one look like? Hopefully the random warning light problem has stayed away after all the efforts you've invested in cleaning up earthing points? :)

Hi Rob,
Run! Run away now, as fast as you can (My best advice).
I have had 2 instances of the phantom reset occurring since I decided (oh, screw it!) not to invest any more money into determining/fixing the root-cause. Everyone tells me its "fixable, but it eludes me.
I just de-"pigged" the car today so that it does not totally resemble a mobile sty.
It's seen better days, but basically everything works (more or less). Aircon is good, new brake-booster, 4 new tyres (within 3,000 miles) a brand new full exhaust last year, new battery this year and all the work (new fuse-box & relays, repaired/reset BeCM & ECU) to try and get her sorted.
But! She's banged-up on the OSR with a dent/pull in the skin of the wing just round the light cluster, the bonnet looks like the paint has been scoured in the Sahara sun for about 50 years and the headlining at the back is sagging.
The engine seems strong and it doesn't burn much oil as far as I can tell (no blue-smoke when I kick-down hard) and all the other bits seem to work as they should. I will take some decent horror-pics on the full glare of daylight tomorrow.
The LPG system is a mystery (Landirenzo Omegaz) whiich worked brilliantly yesterday there and back on the journey to view "her" successor 50+ miles away yet sometimes decides to tell you it cannot run (no-gas) even though you know it has >40 litres on board (probably the sensor/sender for the LPG tank).
Now, all these things can I dare-say indeed be fixed. But not by me. Too old, too infirm and probably (more to the point) too bloody lazy.

The car owes me nothing really (its all dead long-gone money) so I'm pretty OK with it going to a real enthusiast who can fix it up and take care of her, at a modest price. I got it at 60K miles in 2005 and its currently 119K so it has been a good buy overall (especially as I received a "car allowance" of £300/month after tax from 2005 till 2012). I feel I am really "quids-in" on the deal.

I will post some better pics tomorrow. but I have to shift her as the new one arrives Saturday. Luckily, my lad says I can park her in his front garden for a week or 2. :)

She looks like she's begging for a second chance!!:)
Hope she finds a nice home and doesn't end up abused in a quarry :(

Looks pretty tidy to me - looks straight, just needs a resprayed bonnet and a bit of work on that rear panel.

I'm still finishing my Freelander - it still has some issues with the three amigos, plus a bearing or two to sort out. Which basically means it isn't ready to be moved on just yet and I'd be killed for getting another project (recently picked up an MG ZR for my daughter and inherited an MG M-type Midget) - so probably the timing isn't right for me :( - it looks like a perfect project car :)

Shame... Look forward to seeing more pictures though! :)
