sorry for playing dead for so long,
(well I AM 65 now ..) I`ve been a busy boy during the summer at home,
still not finished my new rear drive/discovery car port, but illness and life in general got in the way.
me old landies now got 202.000 plus on the clock,
still running like a clock although my mysterious ticking noise never got looked at, and never got no worse either.
my gearbox has got louder in nuetral, but goes quiet when you put yer foot on the clutch (1st motion shaft bearing? James ? )
I`ve dug out about 5 or more tonnes of bloody solid essex clay, most rotorvated first to make it easier, given my lawn away to a neighbour, as I dug that as turfs, and generally donated all the topsoil to various needs via freecycle & free ads papers - good choice £££ wise.
I`ve been using my neighbours 2tonne wade builders trailer behind my old landie - no probs - bloody godsend really, but I had to buy & fit 4 new brake cables as the old ones were seized solid, and fit a couple of brake shoes that had "melted" - stuck on brakes !!
I hand sieved so many barrow loads of stones through a wheel barrow sized sieve then put then into my 20mm sand and ballast mix, and lost count of how much I mixed & laid but must be approx 5 tonnes approx - still got another tonne or 2 to lay...
its all coming together but stopped for 2 months now as I had "overdone it a bit" - lost over a stone in weight !!
been doing other soddin about things like - bought a cat 3 Lexus is200 from family - 2 doors drivers side, plus a bit of a dent around the lower hinge area, so today I used my new 4tonne porta power to "de bump" the hinge area.
both new doors in same as colour (me happy) trim inside removed, porta power & blocks of wood soon put the center piller back in the correct place, trim replaced, just needs a quick hoover - book a VIC test and away..
So, me still prattling on, but have been very busy of late.
SO, Landrovers, Disco 200`s even..
well got my MOT due very soon, bought new front shocks, will buy new rear ones..got a leak again from steering box - will investigate.. already bought 2 nearly new tyres now on fronts, so got to play under me landie very soon..
I`ll let you know what I find as a "must do job" fer the MOT !
happy motoring LZers, and Hi to the newbies I`ve missed.
god i`m tired....lol...
