Don't think I have done this EGR job right from my searches here... so if I put the plate directly on to the manifold, what do I do with all the wires and other gubbings?

Drop them in the wheelie bin :)
Theres a valve on the inner wing, follow the vac pipe from the egr. You could chuck it as well but I wouldnt bother. Just pull the wire off it to stop it switching the vac to the valve thats not there any more.

In my opinion you wont notice any difference anyway, it just helps to stop the inlet clogging up so what youve done will do that.

Thanks EeEk....as soon as I did it I noticed a difference in performance so I'll leave it as it is maybe just disconnect the gubbins.......
 
Can I just say (or is it too late?).
No you didn't have htis right it is spelt this round my way.
