Wrongy - I can cruise at 105 all day if need be in Germany. However I tend to run at around 3000rpm which is just on 80. More than that and the fuel costs soar. I use the Sat-Nav to check my speed as the speedo is too optomistic.
I've seen 113 on the Sat-Nav but decided I didn't like to treat my Freelander that way - but it was still pulling well and could have gone quite a bit more
Without a roof-box Freelanders are more than fit to play tag with the 'little' Audi's and the BMW's.
Have you driven a Freelander on an autobahn? I cross Germany on my way to and from the Balkans at least 3 times a year.
Its negatory on your designed for the autobahnen idea, I have to say.
Running at 80 - I even get Smarts going past.
However it doesn't matter how fast one chooses to go there are always those who go faster - even in heavy rain or snow - I've had a 'something' go past like a bat out of hell and left me as if I was stationary, when I was driving at what I felt was right on the limit of the conditions at the time. I haven't a clue as to what make it was or even the colour.
Having said that I still feel safer in Germany than on the M25 for instance, as the general standard of driver training is much higher.
That's the end of my ramble.
Singvogel.
