Hi. ive a problem that no-one seems to be able to cure. When first started up my 97 disco 3,9 v8 seems to be fine but very soon begins to grumble and revs wander up and down. runs fine ,but at traffic lights etc gets very grumpy and bumpy. Spent £1400 up to now.New Airflow meter, dizzy.dizzy cap, rotor arm ,Stepper motor, leads and plugs, two new Lambda Sensors and days at local Autotune who say according to computer everything is fine. the only thing is one of my cats rattles, does anyone think it could be the cat before i go and pay a small fortune for one..thanks..hoylandy

I very much doubt it is related to the cat.

It sounds like you could simply have an air leak. Have a good look at all vacuum pipes craking etc.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN YOU TRY THIS, but you could get a can of carb cleaner or such like and spray it around the inlet manifolds and hoses when the engine is running and hunting. If the engine note changes when you spray it at a specific area, then you have found your leak.

give it a try before spending out loads of dosh
