Morning all, Hope everything is well with you all.
Can anyone tell me how to indentify which engine I have. It's a 1989 3.9 V8. Are there any stamps engine on the engine to tell me which compression the engine is.

3.5 had type engine number and compression ratio stamped by dipstick.
The engine code can tell you the spec also

I have a tester if you want to find out what it actually is now k-man

the compression tester will only tell you the pressure that each cylinder can achive!

but dry and wet test and cylinder comparison is worth knowing before or after fitting

that is true many years ago my dads old 110 v8 ran a dream but we decided to give it a comp test found 30 psi on all the cylinders new engine was built and fitted still pulled like a trainwith the old lump which was why it was the last thing to check even i have a off day lol

I has a tester thanks John. Going to rebuild the engine from white one anyway.
