Hi
I've recently purchased a 2017 Se Sport, but it does not come with automatic headlights and Sat Nav.

Whilst I know I can make do with my phone for navigation, but I wanted to know how easy is it to upgrade the car to automate headlights and to include the sat nav. I checked the centre cubby hole and there is no slot for the SD card.

Does anyone know or could help?

Unfortunately with the electronic integration of modern vehicles, you're pretty much stuck with leaving it as it came from the factory, which is why it's important that the vehicle you are thinking of buying has everything you need.

It might be possible to upgrade the headlamp control to automatic, but it would take specialist knowledge to do it.

Upgrading to sat nav is quite possibly impossible, as many components, lots of wiring and electronic programming would be needed. It'd be easier to buy a better equipped model.

It must be a pretty low spec model to miss out on auto headlamps, as all Freelander 2s got automatically headlamps and wipers as standard, except for the 2 lowest spec models.

Modern vehicles are just as upgradable as old ones, it’s just much more expensive and takes a very different skill set.

Yes it is possible to do, if the budget is available.
However it often costs more to retrofit items than its worth. With modern vehicles, it's best to make sure the vehicle being purchased has everything needed, if not buy one that does.

Plus 1 with regards to expensive , ie, if I wanted to add sat nav to my D3 base model it would involve extra missing looms, plus relevant modules along with adding MOST, plus of course diagnostics capable of activating it

Might be an idea to compare the model wiring diagrams as ur then see what’s missing , at least it then gives u an idea
