Hi,

I just acquired four 16 inch second hand alloy wheels for my Freelander (2.0DI station wagon model 1999), they are those manufactured by Alloy Wheels International. Markings on the wheels are:

7J x 16 x 57.0 AH2

The five mounting holes on the wheels are clearly way to big for the nuts currently used to fit my standard steel wheels. Do I need to buy some adaptor (like large washers) complete with a new set of nuts to use these wheels?

My vehicle currently has 15 inch steel wheels fitted and the nuts are shped to fit into the holes on those wheels.

Help from someone in the know would be very much appreciated.

Regards,
Howard

if they are alloys - they will need special nuts - yes they do often have washers on them, so the turning action is against the washer and not the wheel itself. Do not use yo steel ones as they will chew the alloys to pieces and are dangerous! :(

get in touch with the place that the wheels came from and they should be able to supply them, or if you got em off a bloke in the pub etc get in touch with the manufacturer and ask them for a supplier local to you ;)

I would take heed of the advice if I were you - the best scenario is that the steel and the alloy will react together and the studs will lock onto the wheel and become a pain in the arse - the worst is that they will damage the wheel and end up causing an accident

Hi hypeak . . .you need to get the correct taper high carbon steel bolts that fit the alloy freestyle wheels, the stealers is the place ta go, normally one of a set is a lock type ,but if your not bothered bout that then don't worry, when fittin any alloy ta steel [they don't make ally bolts for wheels] put a smidge of copper slip on bolts/and wheel mating face,oh and no ya dont have any washers ,best oh luck. . . .:)

i notice on the Alloy wheels web site - all the wheels I looked at said "Price includes nuts or bolts." so it might be worth going to who yu bought the wheels from and ask for the nuts.
