Is you Disco ?
I've always been aware that doozel engines are noisy but over the past few months I've become more aware of how rattly mine is at idle or no load.
When I'm given it the berries, or using the engine for braking, it's as smooth as silk.
It's a manuel by the way with almost 130k on the clock.

Pfft mine is alright, well ok for a 183k TD5 ;) bit rattly ;)

What Lube ya got in it?

Mine runs ok at idle, certainly not like an old cement mixer, yet!!!!!!!!! ;)

Yes I do.
Just thinking about when I started to notice how noisy it was... It became more apparent after I had the new gearbox fitted and they did say something about the DIY gaiter I'd made for the top of the gearbox (The one that you can't buy anymore)
Maybe they didn't refit it, and the extra noise I'm hearing isn't extra at all. Maybe it's just because the sound deadening I had under the centre console isn't there anymore. o_O
I'll need to check that at the weekend as well.

May well be that.
My cover was missig 2 bolts and with the motor running it vibrated like a mofo and made it sound quite bad, 2 new bolts and shes ok ;)

I'd look for the sound deadening! ;)

It'll be good timing achully as I need to find a 12v feed for my new CB and I was going to tap in to the cigarette light cable.

My engine cover was missing a bolt. Also got new grommets/washers, found I needed to use the old ones outside of the new ones to get the bolts snug. Much quieter now though!
