After many years of longing for a LandRover I have finally purchased one but it needs some TLC - luckily I spent 20 odd years keeping them going whilst in the Army and I am glad to say that with the exception of the engine much remains the same :)

I need to reprint the toy and have found the colour, Caledonian Blue, but what I can't work out is how much I need - nor what I should use as an undercoat.

There are some bits that are bare ally, should I prime these then use a general undercoat, what type of primer and what is the best undercoat?

I think that cellulose paint is best for an amateur, and Carpaint can mix it, but I don't know how much I will need :( and do I need to thin it down before spraying?

Can someone give a newbie here an indication of what the coverage is for these paints please?

Many thanks - all tips gratefully accepted!!

Iain

I had expected a more helpful answer than you provide. Try searching on here using an iPad, then you will realise how 'helpful' your answer actually is.

I can only hope that there are others here who show the friendliness and support that the Landrover community is renowned for.

No problems doing a forum search on my iPad!
If you get a tin, the base of which completely covers your iPad, and stands about 30cm high, you will have enough!
Alternatively, you could buy a gallon of paint and have sufficient.
Use a catholic primer ... Or a zinc-based etching primer, then a grey etching undercoat, followed by gently rubbing down between layers, finally slap on your topcoat.
Simple!!

See, some of us are kind to higgeruntnunt prats!
