I want to make an odd sized drag link (steering box to axle) and a disco 300tdi track rod tube (wheel to wheel) should be the right length if I omit the adjusting shaft. I'm out of the country at the moment so can't check my own vehicle - anyone know how many clamps are normally fitted to a track rod? One at each end of the adjusting shaft, plus one at the other end of the track rod tube, or are there usually only two in total? Also, is the adjusting shaft thread pitch the same as a track rod end?
Thanks in advance for any guidance. I'm building this truck for a hospital charity out in Africa and want to stick to standard parts as far as possible so they stand a chance of keeping it running for a good while... once I finally finish it, that is!

Four clamps are used.
As for the thread pitch of the adjuster, I don't see why it would be any different from that of the ball joint, one end RH thread the other male end a LH thread possibly but then I've never had to go there to find out. :)
