Hi all,
some of you may have seen my previous post about rough running, I took it to a local garage that certainly seemed good due to the vehicle being under warranty and quite honestly I just needed it running again ASAP.

How wrong could i be! its been 3 weeks and I'm just concerned they'll over charge me so I want to have a rough idea of how long certain things will take as i haven't tackled them myself before.
so, how long will it take to...

read ECU for faults
remove injectors, replace seals and reassemble
inspect/replace MAF MAP temp sensors
recode all injectors
I can't imagine these tasks taking much longer than 3 hours??

Many thanks,
Callum :)

fantastic, about what i estimated
yeah i told them its my daily from day 1, i need it for work. i've been very polite and understanding about it all though but they've clearly abused this and seem to have put it on the back burner. I've got the ECU arriving back to them tomorrow before 1pm. so i said 'it will be ready for me to pick up after work?' to which their reply was 'well we will try and fit it in to our busy schedule'! no offence but I'm a paying customer and my vehicle's been with you for 3 weeks. surely I am your 'busy schedule'??
haha sorry, rant over!

many thanks,
Callum

Yeah to be fair it should already be part of their busy schedule unless they’re doing you a favour on the costs.

Maybe they’ve been waiting for the ecu - did you have to send it off for repair?

I know what you mean, if i were their friend and they were doing it for cheap then fine, but I'm a full paying customer, this is the first time I've used them.
no, after the injectors came back fault free they were 'running out of ideas' so i did my own research and the ECU was looking like a possibility so i phoned the garage and said i want it sent to alive tuning. in the end I had to collect the ECU end send it out my self.

alive tuning on the other hand have been fantastic, really good communication and he got straight on it the second it arrived.

its back now, they charged 4 hours which i think is fair, not far from our estimates.

many thanks,
Callum

A 'good garage' is a busy garage ...

I know, they were apologetic, thanked me for being understanding and the bill was fair so i can't really complain.
to be fair, they did have a V8 defender to tune the carbs so they probably had to run to the petrol station after every test drive!! perhaps that's why they didn't have much time for me! ;):D
