When I did the rebuild on my 2a I fitted a different V8,still a rover but this one is out of an sd1 not a p6 rover, obviously no two engines are the same but this one doesn't seem to have as much torque at top end but revs its tits off and goes like the clappers! :D I don't know the history of the engine but was wondering if it has had a performance cam put in,is there a way of finding what cam is fitted?

Cheers

You would have to take one out and either measure it or get a part number off it; did the donor cars have the same spec engines to start with?

its very hard to tell unless you measure.
I just fitted an high torque cam to my 110 and you can only notice the difference when you put the two cams together. Even then its hard to tell if the old cam is just worn. If you look under 110 rebuild you will see them cams side by side towards the end of the posts.

Cheers, its running like a dream but with the old engine on one hill near me it would sit at 60 mph in top gear and cruise up but this one won't,but if you cog it down it will fly up at about 80 which the other one wouldnt,it just feels different to all the other 3.5's I've had but I ain't complaining cos it goes like fcuk!

sd1 should be 9.75:1 compression and the p6 10.5:1

they are both still better than the 8.25:1 rrc one tho :D

ive gone for the sd1 motor for my project so I dont have to worry about pinking on unleaded like I would on the p6 spec motor. plus the valve stem seals are better on the efi sd1 engine-because it has some :p

just watced a few of your videos.

WOW!!! the noise that thing makes is the dogs knackers! :jaw:
