Hello I have a freelander 1.8,2005,how do I get it into 4wheel drive,I've been out the last couple of days in the snow and got stuck

It's in permanent 4wd ... unless you have bought one that has a prop missing!

If that's the case you are in deep **** wallet wise!

in what way stuck ? no drive ? wedged ? cross axled ?

have you tried rtfm ? I have found it no end of help in the snow with my freelander.

just for the sake of a balanced view, I have just asked mrs prime, who, whilst a very good driver, has little knowledge of the ways of land rovers.

at first she thought it was a joke or a trick question, but came up with the right answer straight away, she even knew about hill descent control.

crawl underneath and make sure thereis a big round lump in the middle with a tube coming out of each end. if not come back and tell us.
come back into the warm.
log onto LZ and enter the FAQ section.
print off the VCU test thread.
go back outside and jack up one corner.
conduct test.
if the wheel either turns easily or doesnt turn, come back and tell us.

Simple check would be to see if you've a missing propshaft. If you find that you do you can ruminate on the fact that you've should queried this merry band (or done a search) before this moment in time. Nothing that can't be fixed, though. Except that it will always be Freelander.

Be brave comrade.

Crikey, gets a bit warm in here doesn't it? I'm sure I can smell BBQ'd Newbie!

I think I'll keep my head down for a few months... :behindsofa:
