Hi,

I just bought a 74 Series 3 with a reasonable chassis but notice that the bulkhead and footwells need attention, How do I take the front wings off so I can get to them?

Thnks in advance!

They unbolt. get ya self a manual there's loads available as free downloads if yu google for em.

Just bolted, if you can't work out how to get them off without a book, are you up to the other jobs?

I just want to strip it down and cleanit up so I can get a welder in to do his stuff, i live in Jersey and everything costs a fortune so the more i can do the cheaper it will be

Fine, I was just concerned that your Land Rover might join the many in a semi stripped condition when the owner finds they have taken on more than they can chew.
Removing the wing is a lot easier with two people, unless you have extra long arms with two elbows in each.

right, stick yer head under the wing from outside, jack up and take off wheel if yer like , thers a row of bolts down the bulkhead to wing joint ! undo themn all, thers a couple on the top of the wing , then thers the ones holdin the wing to the grill, these are trickyer, they will be off in under an hour tho ! simples :)

then yer end up with somethin like this !

yer can see where its fixed to the bulkhead ,

To save time and temper, when you put the wings back on use stainless nuts and bolts where possible, you can get them from places like Screwfix.

:)

easiest if you take out the mud guard bit first, bolts onto the footwell, then you can get to the four that are at the back on the bulkhead cos they are a pain in the tits to reach unless you are a double jointed orangutan:rolleyes:;) also have a grinder ready to grind of the bolts that have not been undone for 20 years:p
