Alternator drive belt can be tightened up - slacken the pivot / mounting bolts and use the small bolt to bring the alternator outwards towards the radiator.

Power steering belt is self tensioning using the sprung wheel that pushes against the belt. If it stiill feels slack, then I would suggest a replacement belt as it may have cracked / stretched.

Hi all,
have had the belts changed when i got the vehicle in Sep 2007, so cannot be worn out already. its obvious that an adjustment is necessary but was askin if anyone could advise me as how to do this. Sorry if i wasnt specific enough.

just in case anyone is stuck with the same problem, have now rectified. involves removing plastic cover under the driver side (3 pins 10mm) exposing the belts and pulleys. take a 13mm socket and loosen pulley over which the alternator belt runs, then tension the belt, again using a 13mm socket by means of the through bolt, tigten until correct tension is achieved
