No not simple it's part of the oil pump on the M51. How many threads do you need on same subject?

I appreciate your replies but why are they always so arsey?? I did do a search on the subject but didn't find anything of much use so maybe i'm not searching properly or i'm not as clever as you.

I am not being arsey, why do you start two threads on same subject, why not just ask the question on your first thread? Oil pressure at tickover should be around 29 psi relief valve should open at 55 psi. Relief valve is intergral with pump so is a bitch of a job to get at. The principal of an Oring seal is that the pressure behind it forces it against it's seat to seal it. They lose their nature over time and get hard specially if the engine has been run over hot. They will then weep.

The engine hasn't been run over hot at any point, it is always just around the halfway mark. It isn't weeping oil it's chucking it out.
I have no way of testing what the engine oil pressure is and as you know there is no gauge.
Today i have changed the oil and filter for a genuine Land Rover item and i will flush out the mesh breather tomorrow in the hope this cures it but i have my doubts.
There is a plastic gizmo on the inside of the rocker cover which attaches to the breather pipe outlet, do you know what this is for? there looks like there is a spring inside. I'm wondering if this was no longer working then it would prevent the engine breathing(clutching at straws)

That is the engine breather. There are two types one for none EGR and one for EGR engines. The later one produces a constant vacuum inside the crankcase to draw fumes out of the engine. The early one opens and closes dependent on spring pressure against suction from turbo. If that is blocked it could cause oil to leak from gaskets and seals because of excess crankcase pressure. But it most certainly won't cause O Rings to leak in the oil cooler.

Not arsey, just how it is, Wammers has a way of being strait to the point which I respect whole heartedly. Anything else is a waste of time. Some people are just too politically correct and namby pamby around these days take some criticism the way its meant. Learn boys and girls. Generally!

I know, I remember playing Counterstrike online years ago, someone had an innovative handle that used up all the characters available "IPunchHandicapsInTheFace" For some reason it annoyed people!
