Hello,

I want to run a cable down through the centre console under the car (as its too hard and too risky to drill through the fire wall). I thought I'd remove the low range shaft rubber boot to try and thread a wire through but the boot does not want to come off easily, (yes I have unscrewed the knob).

No one seems to have posted how to do this. I don't want to break something by forcing it.

Loads have posted it,but it all been to do wity gear boxes. The rubbers riveted to the body under the centre consol. The firewalls not hard to drill and should have plenty of holes in already. Im running loads through and haven't needed to drill it.

on my 200 tdi the whole thing just unclips

Have i got the wrong end of the stick. Is the op asking about the gear stick gator or the rubber sheet ontop of gear box?

Rubber sheet I guess. You wouldnt be able to unscrew it if the gaiter was still attached at the bottom

my rubber sheet is loose its not connected to anything i can remove it with both stick gaiters in place..

i am confooosed as to the ops qs?
