Hello everyone, went out in my series 2a stationwagon the other day and when I got back the rear nearside wheel was very hot, seems the brake is binding. Before I start taking everything to bits and replacing stuff can anyone please give me any advice as to what to check first as the most likely cause?

I'm fairly sure it's something to do with brakes as I felt a pull over to that side when braking. I don't drive the Landy as often as I'd like and I'm wondering if something has siezed up in the brake assembly.

Check brake adjusters
Check spring positions

If you have single leading 10 inch drums all round (Standard on 2a swb's) check that the top springs (On all wheels) are located from the leading shoe to the pin on the backing plate. also the bottom spring should be shoe to shoe.
If the top spring is wrong then the other wheels will tend to brakes "on" and get hot, also you will find it hard to get a firm pedal.
