Dear all,

I have jusr returned from a trip towing my caravan and I noticed like a clicking sound from under the bonnet, I opend it up and the heat struck me, it was very very hot. The front part of the body work and the top of the radiator area were the worst. The car had being running at normal temp according to the temp gauge for all the tow.
I was running with the air con on during the tow.
Can any one advise what the prob may be and how to fix it.
Thanks
A normaly happy Rangi owner (still am) Mike K.

Was the clicking constantly going on or did it stop after a fews seconds?? if it stopped after a few seconds and was coming from towards the top right of the engine bay then it might of been the EAS valves adjusting the height of the suspension and trying to keep the car level. was it parked on flat level ground??

In regards to heat, my DSE runs quite warm I guess. The temp needle will stay in its normal posistion but if I open the bonnet it will feel quite warm under there and the heat does hit you if you open the bonnet. I'm guessing towing something would put additional load on the engine making everything a little warmer?? Just my thoughts on it...

Thanks for your answer Wills.. .
I dont think it was the suspension that was clicking; the air system has been removed and coil springs fitted prior to me becoming the owner the relays and every thing have been removed.
The heat was at the top right over the intercooler where the bonnet catch is. This area was un touchable.

This is where most of the heat is if I go and open my bonnet, but its only very warm/getting hot. It isnt so hot that the area is untouchable though. Then again I havent towed anything with mine so wouldnt know how hot it was after towing. Was the fan running to cool the engine?? Is the coolant level ok etc etc?? I am kinda scraping at the barrel here now so hopefully someone with more knowledge of the engine will come along soon. :)

Try transmsition oil cooler and engine oil cooler all additions for cooler towing the clicking noise is the exhaust contracting as it cools off no worrys

Hi Bobmar,

Thanks for the tips, I will be checking all these items and looking to clean out the intercooler.
