My 1992 3.5 V8 starts first time every time when the engine is cold but when the engine is hot and you try to start it, it turns for 5-10 seconds before catching and even then I have to give it full accelerator pedal to get it to start.I was at a local landy club meet the other week and one of the members said it could be a sensor but had no idea which one. Any advice greatfully received.Nige

Coolant temp sensor. Front of intake manifold, above left cylinder bank, near thermostate housing.

It also could be related to ignition as well. Coil, cap, rotor arm and ignition module. All of which can cause problems when starting up warm.

Could be a fuel lock - Series 2 petrols get them, delivery pipe gets warm and fuel vapourises in the pipe. Don't know if it happens on V8.
