Does anyone know the thickness of steel plate on a 2a chassis?

The front spring hangers look to be around 3mm and the front bumper support looks
to be around 1.5mm but I would like conformation before I fire up me MIG.
I also have some bits and bobs to do on the main chassis legs and I'm assuming
that they are round 2mm but I cant get a good look.

Help Please

Ps
Does anyone know a good steel supplier around the Hampshire / Berkshire / surrey borders?

Try berkshire metals in Tilehurst or much larger Goodmans steel on Cardif Rd near rivermead.

Use berkshire if you only want a small amount or Goodmas for uantity as they tend to sell in lenghs up to 7m!

Thanks
James
I did look in to Goodman's steel and you right they will quite happily sale you a lorry load but not a square meter of 8 gauge steel.
I will look in to berkshire metals.

what about a trip to the local scrappy.. you can pick up a sheet fer pennies there, you might have to brush off a bit of surface rust but otherwise it willbe fine

my local scrappy will sell you a piece of metal (new) for about 5 to 10 quid.
approx 1 sq metre.

Clivees,

having seen your earlier supposedly amusing retort to a junior member - I am suprised that you didn't have the loaf to go to the local scrappy. Should you want any specific sheet - name you poison - it can be sourced from outside of uK.

I do have the nounce to go to the local scrappy but I did mention that I live in Hampshire and all my local scrappies are buying big houses and cars.
They wouldn't sell the steam off their **** for less than 20 quid.

Clive, have a look for the nearest steel stockholder and they will quite happily guillotine whatever size and thickness of mild steel plate of your choice for a few quid.

Regards WP.

Thanks guy's for the suggestions but does anyone know what the thickness are used on a series chasse?
