Ok I'll bite.. which bit is off a series 1? Certainly not the chassis or engine or gearbox or axles or bodywork
 
I woud hazard a guess its fate is to be bought, a s1 to be stolen, this ID added to stolen s1 so making it legit, and defender broken up?

I never explain myself properly!
Steal a series 1, stick the ID of this defender onto the real s1 thereby making the s1 car and the s1 reg one and the same ie all legit, then sell the remains of the defender on ebay, so for the thief it is win win!
