Hello All,
I have a hissing noise from the front left. It started after the driveshaft was changed. I had brought it back to the garage, they checked the shield behind the brake disc and bend it a bit out as the bloke thought it might be that. It was good for the rest of the day and then came back. As the discs needed change so have done that, but the noise is still there. Somehow it's only when start driving resp. when 'cold'. After a while it disappears.
I tend to think it's the wheel bearing, tried to move around the wheel, but seems nothing, but as it started after the driveshaft was changed it seems to be plausible or what to you think? Also it's louder when right turning.

Are you sure it's something outside? Sometimes noises inside from the heater system can sound like they're coming from the outside.
 
Sorry the pads were changed with the discs as they said if disc then pad.
If the brake caliper is sticking slightly, the pad might still rub the disc even if pads and discs are brand new. To check, jack up affected side, remove wheel and rotate the disc by hand and listen for any rubbing noise. The disc/hub might feel a bit stiffer to turn if the pad is rubbing too much.

I checked the discs and they were moving fine. Couldn't hear that sound.
The odd thing is the driveshaft gaiter looks odd. Could there be coming noise from? Definitely didn't look like that when it arrived.

I think it was in the garage for that to be installed about three month' ago. Tried to move it, but is it that the driveshaft needs to be taken out to fix it?
 
The right and left sides are different lengths. It looks stretched. Measure the shaft portion between the rubber boot ends. Left and right should be different. If the same then get it checked.

We had a driveshaft like that in the yard today.

The monkey who fitted the drive shaft, not that long ago, had presumable locked it into the diff/gearbox. Then over extended it and the CV fell out. He's then reinserted the CV, but twisted it a 'notch'. So the boot was 1 3rd twisted and left like that.

Was picked up when the boot ripped and shat the grease everywhere.
 
It look's to me like the boot has been gripped when putting the shaft on, which as then pushed it inwards so is most likely rubbing, either get it back to the garage that did the job, or undo the outer clip and then try to put the shape back, add new clip after.

Thank you, GG. Had something like that on my tongue, :-D. Had something like that on my mind, that not properly installed.

Ok, the right side shows around 11.5cm and the left side (n/s) 15cm between the boots. I think that should be ok, what GG mentioned might be more the point then.
