Has anyone ever tried to swap from a Land Rover Dsicovery to a Range Rover Classic?

I've just phoned up flux to swap from the Disco to the RRC, told them number plate etc... Woman comes back on the phone, unfortunately we cannot swap to that vehicle as its not an old Land Rover which is what your insurance covers you to drive so we'll have to cancel the policy.

At this point I had a bit of an argument with her and have now got the number to phone Highway on Monday.

How is a 1989 Range Rover Classic not an old Land Rover then? It has a Land Rover badge so surely it's an old Land Rover?

Anyone ever had this issue?

Cheers

I would...as the price she quoted me for a new policy is cheaper elsewhere! But being half way through a policy and only 22 I could do with carrying on to keep my no claims going and I can't afford to pay for a new policy at the minute!

Speak to the rep on here or stay on the phone until you get someone who knows what they are doing. The disco was first made after your classic so not sure how they think a diaco is "old".

It wasn't so much the age thing I don't think, it was more the fact she wouldn't accept the Range Rover as a Land Rover.

Is it modified? when I tried with them before it was a stupid price with mods on and they wouldn't do it unless we had home insurance or a parent was insured with them or something like that.

No it's totally standard. It's not as cheap as some but the quality service is soon much better I'm confident in driving around knowing they are my insurers. Something I'd not be happy doing with flux for example...

Hi,

I've replied to your PM - I'll look into this now. It's not just the age of the vehicle which determines whether an insurer can cover it, there are lots and lots of reasons why they may or may not be able to offer cover. I will arrange for Highway to be contacted to find out exactly why they are unable to help.

Thanks

Jordan

It's sorted now, I phone up in my lunch break instead of waiting for the call back, to which they said they had no notes to call back?

Did cost me £190 more to insure a less modified vehicle, which seems a bit stupid...
