i've just stuck on a leccy equiss oil pressure gauge. i know mechanical are meant to be better, but routing, etc.

i understand it's meant to be between 20-50psi.

on 5w30 mine is 35-70psi. could be an inaccurate gauge or sticky relief valve... any thoughts?

only worry if it is low - or drops as the engine gets warm.

ah cool :)

is it not meant to drop when it gets warm? as the cold thicker oil raises the pressure

hope so, think mine is 5bar/70psi from cold, then drops to about 2-3bar(30-40psi) at idle, back to 5barish underload.

My 200 TDI reads approx 30 PSI when warm at idle. At speed it reads anywhere from 45-65 PSI. When the engine is cold, it's 60 PSI at idle and up 80 PSI at speed.

It's a very reassuring gauge to have :) Especially when your oil pressure sender fails, like mine did recently.

When I first installed mine, I was getting issues with a poor earth as the oil warmed - probably because mine is installed in an oil filter sandwich. I put a jubilee clip around the oil pressure sensor and earthed this back to the engine block. In the future when the sensor needs replacing, I'll replace it with one that also has an earthing point (they are readily available).

ah good to know someone elses numbers.. 200 should be similar enough.

i've used a tee off the sender plug.

just need to finish the wiring properly now :)
