Just read an an article in 'car mechanics' with a high mileage van...
What is high mileage for a Disco, mines @ 186k but I guess 250k+ is possible without major replacements ?

and the rest. my 200 is on 190 odd and its as good as when it left landrover. just maintain, service and use the engine in a civilised manner.
no such thing as a knackered engine. it can always be repaired, it just down to your mechanical capabilities.

My MOT tester son failed a 200TDi Disco a few months back for terminal tin worm. It was running and driving fine with 280k on the clock and the original injun.

171'000 on the clock of mine.

Mechanicly, it's as tight as a drum......

Pity I cant say the same about the bodywork.

So what is high mileage for a Landy? An old farmer used to drink in a pub I used to run, and he had a SeriesII from new. He had put over 500'000 miles on it. Would that be considered to be high mileage?

my 1993 BMW 325i had done 228K+ and is the quickest thing i have ever driven, it was mechanically perfect. Just look after em, service em and dont rag em.

What about highest milages of a SINGLE OWNER? I have done 135,000 on a TD5 Disco (2002) I've owned from new...

thats what there built for, had more beemers than yer have had hot dinners and i swear by them, 197bhp and you can use all of it all day every day, fecking things love the rev limiter, diffs will take as much as yer can give em aswell.
this only applies to the 6cyl models though. :D :p
once had an e34 m5 manual with over 300k on it and ti was still loving it till i caught fire :p fooking thing was gold anyway so the fire made it look a bit better

Yeah wasn't the best advert ferra bimmer that... "Nice car like but a slight danger of self immolation or spontaneous human combustion"

Mines clocked almost 141k from new (I'm the only owner) and still going as strong as ever :) :) :)

(as mentioned further up the thread, maintenance, maintenance (especially the injun oil and filters) and don't over cook - I rarely exceed 3k rpm !!
