Good afternoon all!

I have wanted to buy a Freelander 2 for a while now and today a high mileage 2011 XS 2.2 SD4 has just become available at a local garage. I’m going to take a look at it tomorrow regardless of whether I buy it or not just to get a feel for it. It’s advertised as a 2 owner with full service history. I have checked the MOT online and it is pretty much spotless. Reg is RE60UGM if anyone wants to check it out. The car is also in pretty much pristine condition cosmetically. At £2,995 & 196,000 miles, am I nuts or could this be a good deal?

Cheers for any comments

With top maintenance, the mechanicals are generally good for 300k miles. However gearboxes, PTUs, diffs and Haldex are seldom serviced as often as they should be.
So take it for a drive and see how it sounds. If all is well, there shouldn't be any noise coming from the drive train.
If it's got noisy components, either negotiate a better price or walk away.

Cheers for the reply! It’s had a recent service and cam belt as well. Like you say, I think it’s going to be a good listen for anything making a noise on the test drive… wish me luck 😂

A recent service doesn't guarantee that the drive line components were also serviced, as they're normally just ignored until they fail.
Check for documentation for the maintenance carried out recently and historically.
