Is the High Lift Extreme worth the extra money over the base model? What else does it do?

I got a cheap £25 jack, it lifts things up and the lowers it down again, what more do you want from a jack?

I personally am not a big fan of the hi lift jacks ever since mine slipped with 3.5 tonnes on it and hit me on the face

Sold, just ordered one. Like the winching, I will postpone getting a winch for a while and use this if the need arises. It will take a long time to get any distance winching but better than nothing. I also like the spreading idea for emergencies.

ya can winch with any hi lift?

ya just need a boat load of extra's, and i think you will find that ya still need the extra with the extreme..

only thing it has is a shaped slot to attach 10mm chain to the top..

Yep I have ordered the off road kit with it so comes with the chains etc, the only difference I can see is the ability to clamp and spread.

You spread using the jack base and the lifting part of the jack.
You clamp using the lifting part of the jack and the clamp eye at the top.

I have looked at a few vids on you tube and it seems like a good buy. I do think the extreme is a better and more versatile item after looking at the vids, just because of its increased load capacity and the different bit at the top of the jack. Glad I have it ordered.

I have a standard Hi-lift .. it's got me out of the ****e on a couple of occasions, pulled fence posts, tightened fence wire, done all sorts of 'stuff' ... mostly slowly though!

When I get my winch fixed and fitted I'll still carry the hi-lift, maybe without the winching chains, just 'cos it's so versatile in other ways.

tried it once took about an hour to move it 5ft..feck dat.

if u have all the time in the world and plenty of red bull on hand then crack on and give it a go,

Haha, there was a bloke in a 109 at Rothwell and was stuck, I shouted you want a hand mate, he said no I have a winch,

I thought I carnt see a winch on there so left him to it,

Came back about 45 mine later and he had moved about 1ft. Using a hand winch and was sweeting a lot

I then offered again to recover it and he accepted.
