Hi,

First I wanted to say hello, I found this forum by searching for ideas about a clunk that my landy has and it seems to be a useful place to post and hopefully help others so wanted to join. I've got an L reg Defender 200TDI and love it to bits, had it for 1.5 year now.

Some of the work I’ve done recently;

New radiator
New front and rear shocks and springs
Replaced UJs in both props
Replaced rear axle & studs
New rear brake callipers, disks, and hoses.
The usual other bits that suck up all your time.

Anyone got any experience of a front prop not turning? Was trying to work out if my rear prop UJs were causing a clunk when pulling off so took the rear prop off and tried to drive away. Landy didn’t move. I got someone else to put it in gear and try to drive while I looked underneath and the front prop does turn about a 10th of a turn and the nothing. I'm thinking it's going to be the transfer box but wondered if anyone else had seen this and what order's best to tracking down the issue.

Cheers

you did have it in diff lock when you tried driving with one prop removed, didnt you??

if not that is your answer

:welcome: by the way

Nah I didn’t, how come it won't drive non diff locked with just one prop? I just thought it would be 2WD.

Will try diff lock tonight

Another of 'those' questions that have been asked and discussed ad infinitum, if you'd only searched. You obviously need to find out what 4x4 actually means, not what you think it means.

Hey paul_d, are you not a well man cos you have your head stuck up your arse?

easy newbie, you got your answer no need to start spouting.
some of the senior members have seen this question more times than you would care to imagine, a simple search would have answered your OP but i was feeling generous and not as jaded as some of the others;) so was quite happy to try and help:D
