Just bought a Discovery, got rid of the Shogun, noticed there is an oil leak dripping from under the middle of the rear axle. Had a look on forum and found it could be the seal. The oil is on the underside of the body, could this still be seal, and how would the oil get there? Thanks:confused:

Hi, and welcome.

First of all you have to accept that all landy's leak, it's what they do!

It sounds like your front diff oil seal, the oil gets on the underside of the body cos it runs out of the diff on to the prop shaft and it throws it up as it's spinnig.

sounds like a pinion oil seal... its my "seal of the month" ;) post a pic would be helpfull. as lay-zee pointed out, the oil gets everywhere when it drips and can splatter everything... inc. cars too close behind ;)

its part of the inbuilt lubrication system, just requires topping up every so often!!!!!!!!!!!
