I'm a volunteer fire-fighter for a charitable organisation that has four Defender based fire appliances, three are 3.5lt petrol V8s and one is a 300tdi, all built around 1990. Recently I've taken a lead role in maintaining these vehicles, although most my work todate has been relatively simple stuff like cosmetic or minor electrical items.
I happened upon your forum when I was looking to locate the gearbox reverse switch on a V8 with what I believe is a LT85 unit, however although I have seen a lost of posts on the subject, I'm still not clear where it is located? Can it be seen when the panel between the front seats has been removed, or is it only accessible from under the vehicle?

Anyway thanks in advance, I'm sure I will need your advice again if only via the existing posts. Great forum and brilliant source of information.

Behind the bell housing but in front of the main selector housing.

In the red circle.

Thanks dieseldog69, I'll check it out on Wednesday. From the picture, I may be able to get to it from the cab, which will be good.
