Hi,
Warning: I am a total novice.
We are starting to look around for a replacement car. We have a Honda Cr-V 'T' reg Auto at the moment and are finding it a bit 'lacking'.
We have 3 children and most cars won't allow us to take more passengers, we want something that will take bags of garden waste to the dump and, something that will take us to remote spots for hill walking and enable us to camp or even sleep in it at a push if the weather is bad.
A car just isn't up to it. A camper is too dedicated. A 'normal' 4x4 is just too small in the boot.
So, we want a Defender 110 12 seater station wagon, between 5 - 10 years old. I can also make a table to go between to seats in the rear so we can sit down and eat or lower to make into a sleeping area for the kids if the weather turns foul. The perfect mult-use vehicle, we think (and sexy too).
The thing is that I have been driving an automatic for a while as my wrist ligaments played up like hell during and after pregnancy. I have read that the defender can be a bit awkward to drive. How awkward would you say? I will borrow someones manual to practice on before buying.
And they are meant to be noisy. I'm okay as I can switch my hearing aids off (which I do anyway as the kids are a tad bothersome at times) but will my hubby still be able to hear his CDs?
Not worried about the MPG as the Honda is pants (20-25) anyway and we would want to be able to take biodiesel/vege oil to lower costs.
Looking forward to becoming an owner,
Schizoidgal.
