Hi all,
I am the proud owner of a slightly negected 2000 Disco II, and can see that this is not the same animal as the old '64 Series II (88") truck that I had years ago. There's a lot to learn about (and a lot of work to do, I guess).
This Landy seems to drive just fine, had it out on a 100 mile shake-down, and have crawled around, poked around at most everything on her, stem-to-stern.
Problems identified thus far:
She has the "three amigos" thing going on. Cruise-control does not engage (Is this related to the amigos?);
The red Brake light is also on, but the brakes feel fine;
Some of the doors lock and unlock with the fob, (I think that it's actually a broken-off key) other doors don't. The ignition key (an aftermarket job from a key-kiosk) works the ignition switch but not the door lock. (Gee, there's no key-hole on the passenger door!);
Problems I've dealt with so far (I've had her for 4 days now, waiting for the factory manual to arrive in the mail):
Brush bar pushed in so I couldn't get my fingers under to open the hood (oops, bonnet!). I tied it to a tree and backed up four inches. Much better now;
Tail-door wouldn't open. Latch rusted up tight. I pried out the little plastic Land-Rover logo and sprayed lots of penetrating oil on all of the parts inside. Opens and closes well now, although it has one of the locks that won't work by remote control.
Anyhow I intend (with your help I hope) to educate myself and sort this thing out without spending my retirement savings at the dealer's garage.
