Hi there. I joined the forum some time ago as part of the research into the prospective purchase of a Freelander. As I am now the owner of a '54 plate SE TD4, I thought I'd better post a formal introduction.

The freelander is a departure from my usual marque (Saab), but some recent winter weather (and a brief dalliance with a Subaru) set my mind on a 4x4 as our other car.

I've only had the TD4 for 3 weeks or so, but so far it has been a pleasant surprise. Economy on the 74-mile rountrip commute I do Monday to Friday (mainly contry A roads) gives around 34 mpg and the ride is good without too much body roll. I'll get her up on the ramps later this week for a full oil and filter change, and an underbody inspection.

From reading the forum, the only planned mod I have in mind is the EGR removal and I may try ti improve the headlights a bit for the dark mornings and nights to come.

Cheers

Have owned and built several:) the freelanders just great for making tratter drivers look daft;) it walked the intermediate off road course at eastnor, making the stuck and broken discos look girly:) but ultimately it has limitations! But a good one driven well will surprise all but the most well prepped tratter;)
