hello everyone! Hope 2017 is treating all well so far?
We're new to the exciting (and oft challenging) world of Land Rover having bought our 2002 Disco II TD5 auto a couple of months ago.
She's been a little problematic recently with long hesitation to move (despite warming up) and revving too high before changing gear (constantly bezzing around at 3000 rpm).
I've trawled your fab advice and have changed the air filter (improved gear change levels) and then cleaned the MAF (gentle bench clean with MAF spray, avoiding wires, it was full of gunk small stones dead bugs etc) (improved responsiveness and now will do
50mph at 2000revs) but now she's positively eating fuel (1/4 tank in 2 days doing approx 40mls) Is anyone able to suggest what to look at next please? Is the increased fuel consumption a sign that the MAF was not working and the car has reverted to defender settings? I've heard tale of a tester device?
If I do buy a new MAF sensor can anyone recommend a good brand and is it a case of just swapping it in (no fiddling with ECU required?).
(Btw I've asked our indy mechanic to check ATF levels next week)
Apologies for so many questions! Thanks so much in advance, any help very much appreciated!
