Just thought i would post to say hi. After wanting a landrover for ages i finally opted for a dark blue 1994 300TDI ES. The bodywork is pretty straight, the paintwork has lots of minor scratches, looks like a proper landrover.......
I have done a few simple jobs so far in the week i have had it such as replaced rear speakers, replaced rear subwoofer speakers, fitted a new radio.

The car itself needs a little bit of work such as:-

1) Constant oil leak around the sump - Nothing above it, all below so a reseal or new sump is on the cards.
2) Power steering occasionally groans when turning the wheel fast - no idea what to look at yet
3)Rear boot floor needs replacement, daylight can clearly be seen on both left and right sides - something i will tackle when it is mechanically sound.
4) 2nd gear crunches when trying to change gear too fast, if changing slowly its ok.

(If anyone has any idea of costs to fix these problems i would be interested)

I think most of these are very common issues so there is a wealth of experience and info on this forum. I think half the fun of this disco is going to be the working on it.

My long term plans are to fit a car PC, flip down touch screen where the cup holders are fitted and an Xbox in the boot for my son to play on on long journeys.

Oh well, i look forward to contributing my experiences on here.
