Bought Freelander 2.5 V6 51 reg 2002, last Tuesday, did 100 miles towing a caravan and what d'ya know the temperature went through the roof. Topped it up with water in the morning, checked it in the evening - no water. Had to top it up every day. The garage knew how far we were travelling and also knew we wouldn't be back off holiday for a week. Oh, there was hardly any oil in the truck either. How bad is that? and they said they wouldn't sell you crap, dont think anyone had ever checked anything under the bonnet before selling it to us.;)

Take it back and demand a full refund immediately.
Then breathe a huge sigh of relief that you've saved yourself from a world of grief.

I'll 2nd that and no matter what they offer to do to it demand yer cash back. and do not leave the showroom with that heap. If necessary park it across the entrance to the showroom and leave it there then put the keys in the post.

but if she got her cash back surely she wid hand over the keys and leave it where she ..errrr.. left it:confused: ;) :D

serves the feckers right fer selling a dog. make em wait fer the keys if she's really lucky there'll be a postal strike

Aye, the rascals!!! Snot like the post office tae go on strike:eek:  :D Go gets yer munny back lass, Deffuntly;) :D :D

All wot they said.

ps, welcome.
LZ needs more wumins.

Oh. My Freelander went to the garage last Monday night, its still there. They said it should be ready Tuesday.

Spoke to finance company they told me to wait max two weeks for the car and if the problem is fixed basically there is nothing they can do because the garage are being fully cooperative.

Garage said its the water pump? Can this be a major problem, could it have effected anything else?

bit of an echo!

YES! - KV6 Gaylanders blow their Head gaskets for a pastime, especially following overheating - it may happen a week or a month or a year later.
This is a very expensive problem - in most cases requiring a new engine at a cost of £4000 to £6000, depending on who fits it.
That's why I said to demand a refund - the goods that they have supplied you are not "fit for purpose". Don't be fobbed off by an offer to repair it - they'll just do a bodge to get you out of their hair until the warranty expires.
The finance company are trying to fob you off as well because they don't want the hassle and lost interest charges. Stand up for your rights under the sale of goods act.
When you've got your money back, buy a diesel Gaylander if you must, or even better a Defender.
