Hi all

Just noticed that the 'Auto' button on the hevac unit in the middle of the fan control dial does not appear to do anything. Not sure if the button is stuck just like the drivers side temp control rocker switch, or am I being just a dumb fcuk ?

Edit: had a look at the owners manual, yes i'm a dumb fcuk :) the Auto button is stuck, gave it a very small amount of WD then tried to free it off with my fingernail...no joy.

You can remove the bottom completly by carefully squeezing and pulling keeping straight at all times, give it a clean

Be aware the plastic pegs are easy to break. Keep in square at all times. Refitting it can be a very fiddly pain. It only goes back on one way.

Its not that bad as made out, when its released you can see the two long Peggs on the outer part of the button and on reassembly you can see the two slots for the pegs to locate In .
Once its lined up and you know its working a good firm even push clicks it back on . I had it off three times now showing people .

Got the button on & off no problem. However, there seems to be something missing! In Grit Valves photo, there is another white coloured cover that I don't have, with what seems to me to be spring contacts. All I can see on mine is two flat brass screws above and below the bulb. Can I buy the part I need? or does anybody have a spare they don't need?

Cheers

If you can find a scrapyards broken one maybe or put a wanted advert in the right section someone might have a spare.

Cheers, i'll do that. I would like to meet the person who had been working on this car before I got it. Bodged up jobs, bits missing etc. However, i'm getting there :D

Np dont ever think your be there somthing will always pop up but that's the fun of owning a soon to be classic :)

You might save yourself a few bob by phoning a few breakers and asking if they've got a faulty HEVAC that they'll sell you cheap.
TAXIMAN2011, although he's now fighting with an L322, was rebuilding a P38 recently and replaced his HEVAC for an electronic fault. Might be worth a PM.

Donno if this is any good, auto works fine but the knob doesn't turn as it's super glued round the edge (Previous owner) the part you need could maybe be taken out
