Anybody able to help Identify this hose, got a cut in it, just wondered if it has anything to do with some issues I've been having lately.

Mainly a whinning noise or pressurised air noise and now and again a kind of pulling backwards sensation on motorway, first thought it was the turbo on its way out but wanted to do everything possible before replacing that expensive peice of kit.

Its one of the intercooler hoses and must be replaced to stop boost pressure escaping.

Your engine will be overfueling causing black exhaust smoke while it's like this.

Silicone Turbo Hoses for Freelander TD4

Get these......

Continuing to run your engine with a split hose will put unnecessary strain on your turbocharger. Also you'll have a great deal more performance when you replace it. If you intend on keeping the car a while get the silicone hoses, they are less likely to split.

If you use the forum search and type in turbo hoses or intercooler hoses I'm sure you'll find loads of posts confirming the effects of these failing

just had a read and that sounds exactly like my symptoms. Thanks very much everyone. I will replace tommorrow and let you know if this solves it.

when you have fitted the new one, cut off a section of the old one and wrap it around the new one in any places it looks like it will chafe. commonest is on the fixing screw just behind the dipstick. Secure it with cable ties (stainless steel is best, but nylon at a push).

Unfortunately you have to buy the complete hose with the sensor in it (PNH500190 I think), as you can't just get the short cuff of hose on it's own.

I replaced mine as a safety measure at 36k miles and 5 years (I don't mind replacing at this age if it avoids a breakdown). PNH500190 cost £26.48 plus vat. Check it's right for your model year, IIRC earlier ones on eBay, don't have the sensor.

Thanks eveyone, this was exactly wat my problem was. £35.75 plus vat (could only get it direct from Land Rover). Took 5 minutes in the LR dealership car park, how ever unhappy they were about that.

or just get some decent aftermarket hose n make it fit
